FBC Enid is a historic, Baptist church located in Northwest Oklahoma. We give glory to God in celebrating 125 years in our community. Our church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, and the Cherokee Strip Baptist Association.

About the Position

The Minister of Youth is responsible to the Senior Pastor and accountable to the church for providing pastoral leadership in the overall youth ministries of the church and assisting church program leaders and lay volunteers in planning, conducting and evaluating those ministries. This position is primarily responsible for students in grades six through twelve.

What We Are Searching For/Qualifications

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Youth Pastor:

Education

  • Ordained or has a minister license from a church in the Southern Baptist Convention desired
  • Possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field desired, experience in senior high youth ministry, administrative skills, and a personal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7)

Personal Characteristics

  • An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with the mission and objectives of the church
  • Exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life
  • Gifted and called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level
  • Self-motivated leader, capable of developing and imparting a long-term vision for youth ministry
  • Possess relational skills with students, parents and staff

About the Location

Visit Enid! Enid is a unique, multi-community city with a charming small town feel. Vance Air Force Base is a prominent fixture in our community and has been since 1941. Enid serves as an urban center for the many surrounding rural communities. Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Northern Oklahoma College and Autry Technology Center give Enid a taste of college life through campus events.

Centrally located between OKC, Tulsa and Wichita, KS, Enid has easy access to the big cities. But, you do not have to go far for culture and entertainment. Creative Arts Enid offers painting, music and even pottery classes. Enid Symphony Orchestra enriches our lives with music hall performances and even a Fourth of July concert in the Park. Gaslight Theater is celebrating 50 years of community theatrical entertainment. Our newest venue is the Central National Bank Center that hosts a variety of entertainers from PBR Rodeos to Jeremy Camp and Matthew West.

Oklahoma has a proud sports tradition, from cheering on our college teams (Boomer Sooner and Go Pokes!) to our beloved OKC Thunder. Local sport programs include the NOC Jets and many high school football, basketball and baseball teams. David Allen Memorial Ball Park and Enid Soccer Complex are also major players in our sporting world. We have three 18-hole golf courses a well as a tennis complex.

Enid’s educational options range from public to private and even a thriving homeschool community. Enid Public Schools is our largest district and Enid High (6A) serves the greater Enid area. Chisholm Public Schools is located just north of town and Chisholm High School (3A) is a recent National Blue Ribbon School award winner. There are also many great surrounding rural districts and private schools, like Oklahoma Bible Academy. Homeschooling is a popular option due to the friendly Oklahoma State laws and is well supported by our military community.

Family fun in Enid includes activities such as putt-putt golf, swimming, bowling, skating and the local YMCA. Annual city events include First Fridays (Downtown Enid closes the square to traffic and stays up late!), Cherokee Strip Day Celebration, and Light Up the Plains, to name a few of the must see events. We boast many great parks, Meadowlake in the summer features a train, carousel, ferris wheel, and other rides for younger children; year round fishing and a dog park. Crosslin is home to our newest tennis complex and baseball fields as well as fishing and an extensive walking trail.
